Eduardo Sirotsky Melzer: A Fanatic of Family Business

Eduardo Sirotsky Melzer is the president and chairman of the RBS Group since January 2016. He succeeded Nelson Sirotsky as the Chairman of the Board of Directors at the company. Eduardo is a business administration graduate from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande and holds an MBA from Harvard University.

Mr Melzer is a member of the third generation of the family owning the RBS group and a grandson to the founder of the company. He also founded and chairs the Digital e Bricks, an institution which invests in business development within the digital industry and operates in Brazil and U.S. Eduardo Sirotsky Melzer started his career in North America before joining the RBS group in 2004 as the director of the company’s national market. In 2002, Duda worked as a senior financial analyst at Delphi Corporation and Director-General of non-traditional media company BoxTop. During the same year, he moved to the Family Communication Network.


Mr Melzer joined the Cambridge Institute for Family Enterprise Leadership List in 2015 and was selected to compose the list of leaders. This list unites 25 members of the new generations of family business from different parts of the globe who are leading the business and are seen role models. Mr Melzer mentions American John Davis, the best sought-after consultant in family business, as his role model and inspiration for his career achievements. RBS incorporated Davis’s rules of excellence in its organization and assisted the organization to be among the biggest and most significant communication group in Brazil. Eduardo mentions Jims Collins and Ram Charan as other influential thinkers that he consults on regular basis.
