In 2017, Fortress Investment Group was purchased by the Japanese conglomerate SoftBank Group Corporation for $3.3 billion. This purchase was made possible with the help of Peter Briger whose expertise in the Japanese financial markets and his history of investing in Japanese assets was instrumental in closing this deal. Fortress Investment Group can maintain its leadership and operate as its own separate entity while SoftBank can have the opportunity to expand investment portfolio through its SoftBank Vision Fund.
