He manages a team of over 300 financial experts who focus on investments in undervalued and distressed real estate and credit. In 2017, Fortress Investment Group was purchased by the Japanese conglomerate SoftBank Group Corporation for $3.3 billion. This purchase was made possible with the help of Peter Briger whose expertise in the Japanese financial markets and his history of investing in Japanese assets was instrumental in closing this deal. Fortress Investment Group can maintain its leadership and operate as its own separate entity while SoftBank can have the opportunity to expand investment portfolio through its SoftBank Vision Fund. SoftBank’s purchase of Fortress Investment Group is seen as beneficial to both sides as it gives them additional access to global markets.
